Family Time

My Aunt Patty and Aunt Jan were in town this weekend to hang my Grandma's 9/11 quilt at the Civic Center Library.  There was an article about it in our local newspaper: http://www.hometownlife.com/article/20110904/NEWS10/109040464/9-11-quilt-drew-inspiration-from-child-s-drawing?odyssey=tab|topnews|img|Frontpage

My Grandma was so talented when it came to making quilts.  She handmade that quilt and my whole family is so proud of it, it brings tears to my eyes just reading that article.  She was an awesome woman and I'm thankful that my parents named me after her.  Today my Aunts were leaving (Patty back to FL and Jan back to AZ), so the fam got together for lunch.  Me and Dad met them, my Grandpa, Donna, Fred, Carol and Mac at the Grand Traverse Pie Company in Plymouth.  The food wasn't the greatest but it was fun to see the other relatives since we don't get together all that often.  Aunt Patty cracks me up, she's so funny and animated when she tells stories.  Grandpa was making us laugh, too.  He told us about people getting sick on the navy boats during WWII, it was funny hearing him say the word "puke".  Ha!  After that Dad and I went into Downtown Plymouth and got some ice cream while we waited for Mom to drive over from Pleasant Ridge.  We drove to Cabela's so Dad could get some stuff that he needed for fishing.  We took a detour home and had a nice drive.  Right now I'm just waiting for Adam to get home and the Tigers game to start.  It's been a good day.  :o)
