Day 42- New PR for 1 Mile and My 5K Time!

Today was my first run since last Tuesday!  Holy crap, it felt good to get out there!

          Week 6, Day 42- Monday, July 22, 2013
           Distance: 5K (3.1 Miles)  Time: 26:19  Mile 1: 7:54  Mile 2: 8:31  Mile 3: 8:53

I ran with my new Asics on today.  I was a little worried since I've been running in my barefoot shoes but my legs felt pretty good.  They're a little sore but not nearly as bad as they were last week!  Yay!  I really pushed myself the first mile and I ended up getting a new PR for my 1 mile time, 7:54!  14 seconds faster than my old PR!  I slowed down for the last 2.1 miles, especially the last one.  I got a new PR for my 5K time, 26:19.  My old PR was 28:25!!!  I'm really proud of myself.  I never thought in a million years that I would ever register to run a 5K, let alone a half marathon.  I have to thank my sister for that.  She's awesome!  She has been a major part of my motivation.  She runs full marathons and does crossfit and just completed Tough Mudder last month.  Thanks for being such a great sister, Maureen!  And such an amazing aunt to gormikins!  ;o) <3

A little Silverstein for today's run!
Post run smoothie.  I put in a whole banana, almond milk, crunchy peanut butter, ice and some frozen blackberries, blueberries and raspberries.  It was delicious!
