I've been noticing lately that when I sit in a chair and put any pressure on my right thigh there's a shooting pain in it. I freaked myself out after reading some things online about it (stupid, I know...) so I didn't do my three miler on Friday. :o( I'm still nervous about it but it wasn't as noticeable this morning so I decided to do my 9 mile run today. My left calf muscle has been tight since last weekend also but I was determined to beat my time from last weekends 9 miler. I waited for a storm to pass before I went. It was actually kind of nice outside (temperature wise...it was 73) but the humidity was at 89% so I was still a sweaty mess after. My goal was to keep my pace around 10 minutes and I'm SO freaking happy because it was 10:04. Last weekends pace was 10:45! I went to the nearby park that I like. I started running in a spot with a lot of tree coverage and there was mud all over the sidewalk. It made for interesting running for the first quarter mile or so. There are also some wooden bridges that I had to cross. After slipping on the first one I took my time across the rest of them. Lol. There weren't many people out this afternoon, I was surprised. I crossed paths with a few cyclists and 3 other runners. I felt really good for the first 6 miles today. The last 3 were a bit tougher but I still kept a decent pace. I'm really proud of those first 6 miles, though! I don't think I've ever kept my mile times that close together! My second goal for this run was to not stop. I have to admit that I did stop for literally a second, got mad and yelled "no!" at myself and kept going. If people were around to hear/see me they probably would have thought I was a nut job. I even laughed at myself after I kept going. So yes, technically I stopped but I'm not upset about it because it was seriously for a second or so. A lot better than last week! Yay for progress!
Week 6, Day 42- Sunday, June 22, 2014
Distance: 9 Miles Time: 1:30:37
My time for last weeks 9 miler was 1:36:48. I'd say today's run was definitely an improvement. :oD
